Our New Outdoor Playground

Posted by Angela Watson on 14 November 2024
Our New Outdoor Playground

During 2024 we invested heavily into our Junior Kindy/ Kindy outdoor play space.

This area was well overdue for a makeover with the playground equipment being last updated in 2009 and the rubber soft fall matting in the other area of the yard having been in place since 1995.

After careful planning and communication with our enrolled families we were able to complete the upgrades to both these areas in 2024.

Our wonderful new playground equipment was designed and installed by Kim and the team from Nature Inspired Playgrounds. Kim custom designed the playground to fit into our space and match with our beautiful natural outdoor environment. We love the end result and our Kookaburra Kids are certainly enjoying this new space.

The other half of our outdoor space was upgraded by Kyle and his amazing team from Lexerturf. They removed huge amounts of old rubber soft fall material and large sections of old concrete and replaced it all with beautiful new coloured concrete, soft fall rubber and synthetic turf.

The entire space is now transformed into a safe age appropriate and engaging environment that will support the education and care of children for many years to come.

Child Care Subsidy

Posted by Angela Watson on 25 July 2023
Child Care Subsidy

Changes to Child Care Subsidy commenced on 10 July 2023, which means child care is now cheaper for most families. It also means some families previously not eligible for Child Care Subsidy will now get it. This change provides more support for more families across Australia.

Child Care Subsidy changes include:

  • The family income limit to get Child Care Subsidy has increased from $356,756 to $530,000 per annum.
  • The maximum amount of Child Care Subsidy has increased from 85% to 90%.
  • Families earning $80,000 or less get a Child Care Subsidy rate of 90%.
  • Families earning over $80,000 may get a Child Care Subsidy rate starting from 90%. This will go down by 1% for each $5,000 of income they earn above $80,000. This rate reaches 0% for families earning $530,000.
  • Families earning below $362,408 with more than one child aged 5 or under in care can still get a higher rate for one or more of their children.
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children can get at least 36 subsidised hours of early childhood education and care per fortnight, regardless of their family's activity level.

Changes to Family Assistance Law, which give effect to increases in the subsidy, came into effect on 1 July 2023.

Three things will determine a family's level of Child Care Subsidy:
1. Combined family income

2. Activity level of parents

3. Type of child care service

Our New Nursery Yard

Our New Nursery Yard
We recently secured a grant to upgrade the outdoor environment in our Nursery room. The space had gotten old and needed to be repurposed for the new age range of the children who were using it. We are so pleased with this new space! It is an amazing asset to our Centre and our Nursery children are thoroughly enjoying the new space!
