Our service is run by a Parent Management Committee consisting of parents whose children currently attend the Centre. The Committee members are all volunteers who give their time freely to assist in the management of the Centre. Each year in April we hold our AGM (Annual General Meeting), prior to this meeting nominations for Committee positions are taken. These nominations are then voted on by those present at the AGM and based on the votes the Committee positions are filled. There are only 7 committee positions including 4 executive members and 3 general members. The role of the Committee is to provide support and guidance to the Director and Educators at the Centre and to ensure the Centre is meeting its requirements under the NQS (National Quality Standards). To achieve this the Committee meet once a month and discuss the Centre and any issues that have been raised.
Kookaburra has a large team of Educators who are all highly trained Early Childhood professionals. We pride ourselves on our continuity of care and a huge part of ensuring that continuity is our long term Educators. We have Educators that have been with our Centre for as little as 12 months right up to 20 years and more than half of our Educators have been with the Centre for 5 years or more. Such long serving and dedicated Educators demonstrates how wonderful our care environment is and why it is such a valuable part of our community.
What makes Kookaburra so unique is our Educator to child ratios, we have a minimum of three Educators in each room in our Centre along with an additional fourth Educator in some rooms. We provide all meals and they are prepared daily in our kitchen by our cook. We have a full time non-contact Director to provide support and guidance to Educators and families at all times. We are a Not for Profit organisation meaning our profit is invested back into the Centre for upgrades, new toys and equipment and additional Educators to ensure we are providing the most high quality care possible to all children.
